A Stewardship Message

"Alas for those who are set at ease in Zion."  Amos 6:1

Amos warned God's people that prosperity can breed apathy. Self-indulgent lifestyles caused them to ignore those who were poor and in need. Becoming more and more complacent in their faith, they turned a deaf ear to God's call to share with others.

Amos's warning is for us as well. In having much, we may lose sight of our poverty apart from Jesus. Wrapped up in the busyness of our own lives, we can lose sight of the need to care for others. Christians are called to be concerned about those who live apart form the church. When we put the needs of others before our own comfort, God is pleased.

Celebration Sunday, Feb 21, will support the N E Minnesota Synod budget shortfall.
