Every year when we talk about the death and resurrection of Jesus to the Sunday School kids I develop a deeper appreciation for the awesome events that took place allowing us the opportunity of forgiveness.

As I grew older I became desensitized to my own emotional connection to the suffering of Jesus. I focused on events, names and the outcome. But not on how it made me feel.

The kids have brought these feelings back to me. To them the hardest thing to understand is why. Why did this have to happen? How could the people let it happen? How could God let it happen? You can see their emotional connection to Jesus and hear the confusion in their little voices. Why did he have to die?

It is a great gift to be able to help them understand and to strengthen my own faith and know that it is all part of God’s plan.

And what a wonderful plan it is!
