Jesse Lake-Suomi Lutheran Parish, A Covenant of Shared Ministry

Jesse Lake Lutheran Church of Talmoon, Minnesota and Suomi Evangelical Lutheran Church of rural Deer River, Minnesota, congregations of the Northeastern Minnesota Synod and Living Waters Conference of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, covenant together in common mission for our Lord Jesus Christ and to provide pastoral ministry to our congregations and the community.

Information

Jesse Lake was founded by Norwegian and Swedish immigrants in 1909. Our congregation celebrated its100th birthday on August 23, 2009. The church has about 150 baptized members with many seasonal visitors. We hope to build a new church starting in May, 2010.

Suomi Evangelical Lutheran was founded by Finnish immigrants in 1918. Our church celebrated its 91st birthday in July, 2008. The church has about 50 baptized members with many seasonal visitors.

Welcome to Suomi!

Soumi Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded in 1919 and still thrives in our small rural community. With the help of members young and old, we continue to provide weekly services as wall as our long standing traditions of the Mother's Day Auction, Harvest Dinner and participation in the Memorial Day Program at the cemetery.
