A Bible Study on the book, The Shack
The novel, The Shack, by William Young has an inspiring theme of how the power of forgiveness can change one's life. Pastor John will lead two sessions on this book, February 16 and 23, 6:30 pm at the parsonage. This study will offer a good sequel to the forgiveness Bible study that just concluded, but that does not mean you needed to attend those sessions. It would be best if you have read the book ahead of time. If you need a copy talk to Pastor John or one of your book worm friends.
2010 Lenten Program
"The Four Acts of Prayer" will be our video presentation for the mid-week Lenten series. The presenter is Pastor Walter Wangerin, theologian and story teller. The four acts are 'we speak', 'God listens', 'God speaks', 'we listen'. With wonderful stories and insights, Pastor Wangerin shows us how those simple ideas can bring us into closer communication with God and how we can be supported by the Holy Spirit in our daily living. These presentations will start Feb 24. "I know an awful lot of adults who think that the prayer works because of who they are of how they are or what they're doing or how they're kneeling.... If we remember that we are children, and if we will remember that God acts to us as a parent then we will also recognize that the power of our prayer to reach the ears of God is not, dear people, in us. It is in God." --Walt Wangerin.
